BayWa r.e. is pleased to announce that its Bullawah Wind Farm project has been granted access rights in the South West Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) by EnergyCo, as part of the New South Wales (NSW) Government’s Renewable Energy Zone access scheme.
Bullawah Wind Farm is one of only four projects selected to receive access in this REZ and among the first in the state to secure an access right under the new framework. This milestone marks a significant step forward in delivering large-scale wind generation to support NSW’s transition to a clean, modern energy system.
“We are proud that Bullawah Wind Farm has been recognised as one of the leading projects in the South West REZ,” said Daniel Gäfke, COO of BayWa r.e., “This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering projects that benefit local communities while helping meet state and national energy targets.”
The project will play a key role in contributing to the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap and supporting the government’s 2030 renewable energy goals. Once operational, Bullawah Wind Farm will deliver clean, affordable, and reliable power to households and businesses across NSW.
BayWa r.e. acknowledges the strong support of local people and organisations across the Riverina region, whose engagement has been critical to the project’s success to date. The company also extends thanks to AEMO Services for their leadership throughout the REZ access process, and to Energise Renewables for their support in the tender submission.
As the project progresses toward final design approvals and pre-construction activities, BayWa r.e. looks forward to continued collaboration with First Nations partners, community groups, and regional businesses.
