local case study
AustraliaBayWa r.e. Projects Australia completed Timboon West Wind Farm in southwest Victoria in 2018, one year after the planning permit was granted, and sold it in 2019.
It has a capacity of 7.2 MW with two Vestas V126 3.6 MW turbines (hub height of 87 metres) generating enough renewable energy to power 5,200 homes via a 22 kV power line running adjacent to the site.
Located seven kilometres southwest of Timboon, the site was chosen for its undisturbed wind flow with strong, consistent wind speeds, close proximity to the electrical grid, and large setbacks to nearby dwellings.
Timboon West is now owned and operated by Epic Energy.
The Timboon West Community Fund has been established to share benefits with the local community.
An annual contribution is being made to the Timboon P-12 School for each year of the project’s life, supporting an agricultural education program.
